Betas Just Wanna Have Fun

rosewelcome.gif

I am a proud alumnae of the literary society: Chi Beta. Chi Beta is located at Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL. We were started in 1919 under the name of Senate for the purpose of intelligent debate. In January of 1920, the name was changed to Agora, which means "Council of Kings," and refers to the famous greek market place of meeting and discussion. The Agora Constition was signed on February 20, 1920 by 18 women. On October 13, 1934, we became what we are known as today Chi Beta Literary Society. I pledged in the Spring of 2002 and have recently become an alumnae. I enjoyed the time I was an active member of the society and will keep the memories I made close to my heart forever. I want to put this website out there in order to stir interest in the society as membership in all the literary societies on campus has declined by atleast 50% in the past 10 years. I want to make sure Chi Beta is still active when my daughter (heaven help us) is old enough to join.
